Kyotown is a community website, we encourage you to participate by contributing articles, notices, reviews, tips, etc. Also, please feel free to comment on the postings of others — additional perspectives always help. Registering allows you to submit items and comment right away, and legitimate users (non-spammers) will be promptly upgraded to author status with the ability to edit and instantly publish content.

Kyotown is based on the WordPress blogging system, with some important modifications that make it behave like a magazine. look at the following image:

Latest Post: Exactly as it sounds, the most recently-saved posting.
Featured Post(s): Posts that stay “sticky” on the front page to increase their visibility.
Recent Posts: Posts move into this column as new ones are posted. The 5 most recent posts, to be exact.
Asides: Short notices that stay on the front page until removed. Just choose “Asides” category when posting.
Event Calendar: The Event Calendar is created AUTOMATICALLY when you post an event. See below for how to post events.

Other front page links, categories, buttons, search box, etc. are self-explanatory.

POSTING

  • Click the Post an Item button and check one or more categories on the right side. Categories are evolving, and your suggestions are very welcome.
  • Choose Asides ONLY if you want to post a brief notice that appears in that section
  • Do not choose Events. That category is selected Automatically when you
